Cast Iron Pizzas at Camp

Pizza ovens are great, but are also expensive. It’s just as easy to load your favorite toppings on cast iron (skillet or Dutch oven) to cook. I included the precooked image so you can see how it looked before I popped it over the heat.

Use indirect campfire or your home oven to cook (425F). I stretch 1/2 lb dough across a well seasoned skillet bottom. If you intend on cooking over campfire, cover in foil for a cast iron skillet or ensure your Dutch oven has a lid covering it.

You can layer up any combination of foods you like My toppings included sliced olives, mushrooms and banana peppers. Cook through for about 20m with thin crust, possibly even longer with a thicker crust.
