Campfired Bread Ideas Featuring Crescent Rolls on a Wiener Stick

Like the last post, this is more of an idea post. I saw plenty of people on Pinterest wrapping various bread things around sticks. I decided to see if it really works and here is what I found. Yes. It does. Kind of.

It takes a bit of effort, but you can probably master the biscuit, roll or crescent dough wrapped in a spiral around a stick. I wasted the first few batches being impatient and holding it too close to the fire. Burnt on the outside, doughy on the inside was my outcome.  Also, keep in mind that Crescent Rolls have a lot of butter in them, this caused mine to not stick to my handy dandy metal wiener roaster very well. Perhaps a stick would be better?? I will have to give it a whirl. My boyfriend decided his patience would probably outlast mine and attempted his own. Much to my disgust, his did turn out pretty well. They were still a little charred on the outside, but I could see this being a fun camp fire activity for a family or group. Was it worth the $2 I spent at the store buying them? Sure. Would I lug them in my pack again? Probably not.

Key points to a nice stick roll:

Spiral it around the stick evenly

Keep spinning high over the fire evenly

It takes awhile, so be patient

The roll will be done when it is puffed out
