This is a morning treat with real bananas as the star. Not only will it fill you up, it will save your fuel for later use. It’s easy to make at home and even easier to make on the trail overnight by just letting it soak while you sleep. If you’re a fan of the dessert, this will be as close as you’ll get in a breakfast.

While you’re packing up your backpack for a multi-day trip, check out some of our other recipes such as Thai Pork Larb that will sustain your wildest of adventures.

1/2 c oats, I use Bob’s Red Mill
1 banana, dehydrated
1 tsp brown sugar
1 tsp Sugar in the Raw
1/4 tsp cinnamon
Dash of nutmeg
1 tbsp powdered milk, I use Bob’s Red Mill
Scrape of a vanilla pod, optional

Combine all ingredients in a Ziplock at home minus the water. At night before bed at camp, add the water in and swish it all around with your fingers to ensure it’s mixed well. Put it in your food stash so animals won’t bother with it and enjoy it in the morning. You can heat it up a bit in your pan in the morning if you desire, but it’s not necessary.
